This week, the Weeknd scored a #1 on the charts. Meanwhile, Drake’s Nothing Was The Same gets some Wu-Tang Clan love, and the Toronto emcee addresses his hopes for the album. Finally, Iggy Azalea reveals having sex with older men as a 13-year-old.
The Weeknd, 2 Chainz & Janelle Monae Impact The Charts
The past week was a good one for Hip Hop album sales, with three acts in the Top 5. The Weekend’s Kiss Land landed atop the charts in a tight race against Keith Urban, selling a whopping 99,000 in its first week.
“Kiss Land symbolizes the tour life, but it’s a world that I created in my head,” The Weeknd said in an interview with Complex. “When I think about Kiss Land, I think about a terrifying place. It’s a place I’ve never been to before that I’m very unfamiliar with…A lot of it is inspired by filmmakers like John Carpenter, David Cronenberg, and Ridley Scott, because they know how to capture fear. That’s what Kiss Land is to me, an environment that’s just honest fear. I don’t know who I am right now and I’m doing all these outlandish things in these settings that I’m not familiar with. To me, it’s the most terrifying thing ever. So when you hear the screams in the record and you hear all these horror references and you feel scared, listen to the music because I want you to feel what I’m feeling. Kiss Land is like a horror movie.”

Drake Addresses Nothing Was The Same Expectations

“Best advice I ever got is: No expectations lead to no disappointments. So I have no expectations,” he explained in an interview with MTV.

“Really, just more than September 24, I’m just excited whenever people get the music,” continued Drake. “The numbers, the sales, all that stuff it’s cool. I’m sure I’ll get into it on the day like, ‘How much did we sell,’ trying to figure it out, but aside from that, I’m just excited for people to hear the full body of work.”
The NWTS news kept coming throughout the week, as Wu-Tang Clan’s U-God revealed that the legendary Hip Hop collective has recorded a remix to Drake’s “Wu-Tang Forever” track.
“They wanted us to remix it and get on there [so] you gon’ probably hear another one with us on it,” said Golden Arms. “Meth did his verse—we all did our verses. I wrote my rhyme in probably 15, 20 minutes. We were moving so fast we only had about four hours of studio time. If I had some time to really sit down and get juicy with it, I probably could’ve got juicier with it. But I still do a nice one, I still do a real banger.”
Not every member was happy with “Wu-Tang Forever,” as Inspectah Deck noted.

Iggy Azalea Addresses Having Underage Sex
In a recent interview with Complex, Iggy Azalea got very personal, revealing that she used to have underage sex while living in Australia.
“When I was 13 I got a fake ID,” she said. “I’d go out, get hammered off my face in nightclubs because I thought that made me an adult, meet older guys who thought I was older, and go fuck them. I’d do that all the time. Hitchhiking was something I would do all the time as a kid. When I was 14 I used to go to the red light district called Kings Cross and go to strip clubs.”
One time, Iggy’s antics with her friends took a wrong turn. “We would hang out there so late that the train would stop working, and then we would walk back into the city on the sides of the road, three or four drunk 14-year-old girls with fake IDs,” Azalea continued. “One time, after going to a nightclub with my friend, a guy followed us through all the carriages. Every station, we’d get out and switch a carriage and he would find the carriage we were in. When we got to the station in Sydney he started to chase us and was like, ‘Come here, you little sluts.’ We ran and locked ourselves in the disabled bathroom and we stayed in there for like four hours until the sun came up and people were out for work again. That’s the only time I’ve ever felt scared doing something dumb.”
