One of XXTENTACION‘s accused killers has shut down any speculation that Drake was involved in the rapper’s 2018 death and denied having any contact with the Toronto superstar.
Robert Allen, who agreed to testify against his co-defendants after pleading guilty to lesser charges in 2022, told the court on Friday (February 10) that not only had he never met Drake, but that he did not know who X was at the time of his death.

His testimony was delivered as a series of “yes” and “no” answers while he was being cross-examined by defendant Dedrick Williams’ attorney Mauricio Padilla.
“So your testimony to this court and to this jury is that you were never on the set of [Drake’s] ‘God’s Plan’ video, filmed in Miami in 2018? Is that what you’re saying?,” Padilla is heard asking in footage of the testimony. “How much money in 2018 did you receive from either Drake or one of Drake’s associates?”

After the defendant says he’s never met Drake, Padilla responds: “You never met Drake? You know who he is though, right?” Allen says yes.
Padilla continues: “But actually, in 2018 when this crime occurred, you didn’t know who X was? In 2018, you’re from Broward County, correct? You listen to rap music, correct? And you’re telling this jury that you didn’t know who literally probably the most famous rapper to ever come out of Broward County was in June of 2018? That’s your testimony?”
XXXTENTACION had briefly scolded Drizzy in 2017, accusing him of stealing his ideas both musically, as well as visually for his “God’s Plan” music video.
While the beef appeared one-sided and never escalated, X’s murder in 2018 found fans digging up a slew of social media posts the “Look At Me!” rapper posted prior to his death.

One tweet read: “If anyone tries to kill me it was @champagnepapi.” However, X claimed at the time that the post was the result of a hacker and asked fans to disregard it.
No evidence in the case has ever been presented linking Drake to X’s murder, but that hasn’t stopped one of the defendants’ lawyers from listing the Toronto hitmaker and a number of other high-profile rap figures as potential witnesses in the case.

In January, as jury selection for the trial kicked off, Mauricio Padilla and the attorneys for his client’s co-defendants Michael Boatwright and Trayvon Newsome appeared in court for pre-trial hearings. They asked the judge to force Drake to submit a written deposition.
“This is one of the biggest celebrities in the world,” Padilla said. “Excluding an order from this court, we all know that I will never be able to take his deposition.”

While Judge Michael Usan initially ruled that he saw no point in getting a deposition from Drake, he granted the “order to show cause” on Thursday (February 9). The order requests Drake’s presence for a deposition on February 24.
“If deponent Aubrey Drake Graham does not appear to deposition he must appear before this court on Monday Feb. 27, 2023 at 10 a.m. EST at so the court can determine why he should not be held in contempt,” it reads.
Earlier this week, Robert Allen offered the court additional details about XXXTENTACION’s murder and identified which of the other three men implicated in the rapper’s death allegedly pulled the trigger.
“As he’s grabbing the bag shots are fired,” Allen told the courtroom. When asked to clarify who fired the shots, Allen responded: “Michael Boatwright.” When asked to confirm who Boatwright allegedly shot, Allen responded, “Triple X.”

Allen also broke down how the $50,000 that X was robbed of was allegedly dispersed among the four co-defendants. After saying he only received $5,000 while Boatwright, Dedrick Williams and Trayvon Newsome each got $15,000, Allen was asked why.
“I wasn’t participating in the robbery,” Allen responded. “[Williams] actually said I wasn’t going to get any money at all.”

Following his plea deal back in August of last year, his lawyer explained why his client was taking the position.
“Mr. Allen’s role was much less than the other three involved,” Jim Lewis told NBC Miami. “It was always kind of contemplated that the State was looking to use him as a witness in the case. And finally we came to an agreement and plead to the agreement today.

In addition to Allen, the teller from the bank transaction where X took out the $50,000 he was ultimately robbed of while being shot also took the stand. She was asked about the late rapper’s demeanor during their interaction, to which she responded that “he was fine,” and “seemed happy.
