Busta Rhymes is letting people in on a little secret behind how he manages to rap so fast on songs like “Look At Me Now” and “Break Ya Neck.”

Appearing alongside GloRilla in front of a live audience for Rolling Stone‘s Musicians On Musicians series, Busta was asked by Glo how he’s able to spit like that – something she says she is just not able to do. And for him, the answer was quite simple.

“I’ma be honest with you – it’s called relaxing!” he said. “If you notice, if I [perform] a song like ‘Ante Up’ or ‘Scenario,’ me and Spliff [Star] will bounce off every part of the stage like we’re literally trying to break it in half. But if I’m doing ‘Break Ya Neck’ or ‘Look At Me Now’ or ‘Gimme Some More’ or one of them songs, my movement is minimal and Spliff will do all of the antics around me to keep the animation going while I calm down.”

He continued: “So it’s really about just centering everything to where the primary focus is, and in that moment, it’s my mouth. So I can’t be doing all of this shit when I gotta give you proper enunciation. I gotta be clear because it defeats the purpose to do the fast thing if you don’t know what I’m saying.”

In a surprise announcement made on Instagram last month, Busta Rhymes revealed that his 12th studio album is on the way.

Alongside an album artwork teaser which featured Busta’s logo and the eyes of a dragon, the “Gimme Some More” rapper wrote: “THE BLESSINGS DON’T STOP SO WE WON’T EVER STOP, EVER!! NEW ALBUM LOADING BY THE DRAGON DROPPING 11.29.24!! JESUS CHRIST!!”

He has since amended the date to January 3, adding, “A NEW PROBLEM IS ABOUT TO START!! ON GOD!!”

The effort follows 2023’s Blockbusta, which reached number 42 on the Billboard 200 and boasted a star-studded supporting cast that included Chris Brown, Young Thug, Kodak Black, Quavo and BIA.
