Trey Songz‘s decision not to respond to a summons may leave him over eleven million dollars poorer, after a judgment was entered against him in a lawsuit over a 2021 incident at a Las Vegas hotel.

A man named Tyrelle Dunn sued the singer back in 2023. Dunn, who according to press reports referred to himself as a Maryland Capitol police officer, alleged in the suit that in November 2021, his wife was “escorted” to Songz’s hotel room at The Cosmopolitan, where she was “assaulted, tried to leave and had her phone taken away.”

Dunn said he heard his wife’s cries for help, and was then attacked. He said the resulting injuries were severe enough that he missed a month of work.

“The attack has had a profound and everyday impact on my life. I still have the scarring, and suffer emotionally from the attack,” he wrote in the complaint. “I think about the attack every day when I see the injuries to my face and body.”

Vegas’s 8 News Now got their hands on 911 calls from a worker at The Cosmopolitan.

“He was battered in a room and we can’t go up there because we’re not sure if the people are armed,” the worker said during one of the calls.  “They battered him and they stole his money and his chain.”

Songz never responded to Dunn’s suit, and a default judgment was entered against him on October 10 for $11,277,961.37. He was never criminally charged for the hotel incident.

“The LVMPD has concluded the investigation into the sexual assault allegations against [Songz] and determined that no criminal charges will be filed,” police told TMZ back in 2022. “If any new evidence comes to light, the case will be reopened for further investigation.”

“We are pleased that Trey Songz has been cleared of wrongdoing and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigation has officially been closed,” Trey’s attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld said at the time. “We are grateful to the LVMPD for the professional police work done and their thorough investigation, which included findings of inconsistency in witness testimony and insufficient evidence. We are pleased that Trey can now return to what he does best, entertaining.”
