Tyler, The Creator has outlined what rap music has to offer society as well as his love for the artform — according to him, being a rapper is “awesome.”
In a clip from the latest episode of Spotify’s RapCaviar Presents docuseries, which drops on Hulu March 30, the Odd Future founder discusses the importance of the genre as an artform and why he loves being a rapper. Tyler said he has no qualms about his musicianship, and truly enjoys making his living laying raps on tracks.

“We’re good with words. We’re good with rhythm. We know pockets. We hear a collection of sounds and one thing and say, ‘Ahh, I know what could go over this,’ that takes a skill,” he said.
The “LEMONHEAD” hitmaker noted that rappers can understand “narrative” and put what you’re feeling into words. He also noted that the genre could be shaped in any way.
“You could be multiple choice.” he said. ” You could be into this and you could be into this, and you could be into that. It’s A,B,C. ”

Tyler continued: “I’m a rapper. I’m also a producer. I’m also a fucking hot dog. You got some young kid like 13 thinking, ‘Oh I got to make bravado rap, [or] damn I gotta talk about what you think you would have to talk about in a rap song,’ [but] no, you don’t.”
He added: “When I’m flexing on these songs, it’s just about the shit that I really like.”
Earlier this week, the rapper revealed his plans for a Call Me If You Get Lost deluxe edition, and surprised fans with a brand new song titled “DOGTOOTH.” The Grammy-winning artist’s new project, Call Me If You Get Lost: The Estate Sale, is set to arrive on March 31.
On the self-produced track, Tyler finds himself ruminating about a certain love interest while DJ Drama sprinkles in some ad-libs. “And will I ever fall in love again? I can’t confirm/ I’m tryna buy my neighbor house and turn it to a yard/ If you don’t know my daughter name, then we ain’t really dawgs,” he raps over a lush, busy beat.
Taking to Twitter, Tyler explained that a ton of material was left on the cutting room floor when he recorded his sixth album, and so he wants fans to enjoy the outtakes as much as he does.
“CALL ME IF YOU GET LOST WAS THE FIRST ALBUM I MADE WITH ALOT OF SONGS THAT DIDNT MAKE THE FINAL CUT,” he wrote. “SOME OF THOSE SONGS I REALLY LOVE, AND KNEW THEY WOULD NEVER SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY, SO IVE DECIDED TO PUT A FEW OF THEM OUT.”

On Wednesday (March 29), the rapper released another track, “Sorry Not Sorry,” to promote the upcoming album, where he apologized for hiding his sexuality, among other things.
“Sorry to the freaks I led on/ Who thought their life was gonna change ’cause I gave ’em head on/ But instead, I sped off, yeah, I know I’m dead wrong/ Sorry to the guys I had to hide/ Sorry to the girls I had to lie to, who ain’t need to know if I was by the lake switchin’ tides, too,” he raps over the sample-heavy track.
