Tamar Braxton has spoken out and confirmed that Chrisean Rock assaulted one of her backing singers, but claims the story has been “misconstrued.”
Last week, it was alleged that Rock had assaulted backing singer James Wright Chanel backstage at one of Braxton’s shows, with the incident leaving him hospitalized.

Rock denied the claims, but now Braxton has broken her silence on the incident and confirmed that Chanel was assaulted.
Speaking in an Instagram video, Braxton said: “I wasn’t going to say anything out of respect for James and his trauma at what happened to him. When I say what happened, he got assaulted at my show and it was by Chrisean but there was a lot of events that I believe were misconstrued.”
She added: “The reason why I decided to say something — number one, I care about my team, they are all my friends and we put this all together for the fans. I’m not a clout chaser, I don’t need that. My circle is this small.”
Braxton also confirmed that Rock was invited to perform at the show.

The Braxton Family Values star later added on X, formerly Twitter: “I’m tired y’all. I don’t know about this pt2 tour. We are all hurting and if I didn’t say anything I’m wrong. I said something & I’m lying. I’m tired.
“Meanwhile James is at the dentist getting new teeth. Y’all leave me alone. I was only trying to show CR love. I still think she needs hugs and real people.”
Chrisean Rock was apparently supposed to appear on stage with Tamar Braxton at some point during the concert, but allegedly missed her cue to perform and later turned angry while backstage.
Before deactivating her social media accounts, Rock refuted allegations that she had assaulted Braxton’s backing singer.

“I been brought up before and I know how it goes a certain way…false narratives saying ‘this happened,’ ‘she did that,’” she said on Instagram Live. “I don’t know. I think it’s just a clout chasing thing…honestly, I need to start protecting my name.”
James Wright Chanel also confirmed that he had been assaulted, saying in a short clip: “All I did was went to work, chile…y’all already know what type of person I am…but let me tell you what ain’t nobody gone do…ain’t nobody gone take my joy…my praise…my worship…y’all should see my fucking face, and I still got joy.”
