Pop Smoke‘s legacy continues to live on in many forms, including a new mural which has just been unveiled — although fans of the late rapper are a bit confused over its accuracy.

The mural features Pop posing with his signature braids and one of his hands holding his chin. His watch and rose tattoo on his back hand are also visible in the mural.

Although details about the artist who made the mural and the location of the artwork have not been revealed, it went viral on Monday (April 17), following the countless retweets with jokes about the painting.

“Looks like a black ET #phonehome,” one person wrote in response to Daily Loud‘s posting of the image. Another joked: “dat aint pop smoke thas juice air.”

The mural arrives just a couple of weeks after one of Pop Smoke’s murder suspects was officially sentenced after pleading guilty.

The defendant — whose identity has not been made public — pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and home invasion robbery, becoming the first of four defendants charged in Pop’s death to admit wrongdoing in the fatal incident.

He was sentenced to four years and two months in the Secure Youth Treatment Facility in Los Angeles, but could remain in juvenile custody until he’s 25.

The judge declined to apply the two years and eight months that the defendant has already spent in juvenile hall to his sentence.

Others charged in Pop Smoke’s death include Corey Walker, who was 19 at the time, along with a 15-year-old and 17-year-old.

The “Dior” rapper (real name Bashar Jackson) died on February 19, 2020 at the age of 20 after being rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds, where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.

Pop Smoke was visiting Los Angeles at the time and posted a photo on Instagram of an Amiri gift bag, which inadvertently showed the address of the property he was renting on Hercules Drive.

Using that information, a group of teens wearing ski masks reportedly entered the rapper’s bedroom that night and confronted him in the shower.

According to testimony, the 15-year-old pistol-whipped Pop Smoke and shot him three times in the back, before stealing a Rolex watch they later sold for $2,000.

The defendant who pleaded guilty allegedly scouted the mansion and helped Walker recruit three other juveniles for the robbery, while remaining in “constant communication” with Walker who was in the getaway car.
