2023 marks the seventh year of Metro’s “Single Moms Are Superheroes” campaign, which he has announced has been renamed Leslie Joanne Single Mothers And Caregivers Appreciation Day to honor his mother who passed away in 2022.
December 14 will also be known as “Leland Metro Boomin Wayne Day” in St. Louis.
Metro’s charity partnered with Amazon Access and Rung for Women this year to put on the function which focuses on helping single mothers with careers coaching and skills training.
Mayor Jones said in a statement: “Today I awarded a Key to the City to St. Louis’ own Metro Boomin, not only to recognize his incredible work as a producer in the music industry, but also his tireless advocacy for single mothers and domestic abuse victims.

“Metro has made St. Louis proud at only 30 years old, and I can’t wait to see what else he will accomplish to keep putting St. Louis on the map.”
Metro Boomin also said in a speech: “This is only the beginning of all the great things that I want to do for the city to help turn things around one household at a time. As far as today, the day is officially Leslie Joanne Day after my mother — and not after myself.”
In June, the “Heroes & Villains” hitmaker paid tribute to his late mother on the first anniversary of her death.
He wrote on Instagram: “I can’t believe today makes 1 year since we have lost You my Love. You were the best Mother and friend that anyone could possibly even pray for. You dedicated every second and every ounce of your being to the betterment of your 5 children and our family as a whole.

“Our time was cut short but I’m still so grateful for all that you have taught me and the values, lessons, and morals You have instilled in each of us.”
In 2022, Metro’s mother was murdered by her husband, a man who was not the producer’s father. The husband later killed himself.
