Megan Thee Stallion broke down in tears during a show in Tampa over the weekend.
The Houston rapper performed at the Amalie Arena on Saturday (June 8) as part of her Hot Girl Summer Tour, and became overwhelmed with emotion while performing “Cobra.”

Fans inside the venue captured the tearful moment on camera, with footage showing Megan Thee Stallion attempting to perform the song but repeatedly choking up and at one holding her head in her hand as she cried.
“I’ma give you this performance without tearing up,” she said on stage, letting the first few lines of the song play before spitting into the mic.
Despite her emotional struggles, it appears Megan was eventually able to compose herself and finish the track in emphatic fashion.

Released last fall following Tory Lanez‘s assault trial for shooting her in July 2020, “Cobra” finds Megan Thee Stallion wrestling with topics such as depression, suicide, betrayal and heartbreak.
“Breakin’ down and I had the whole world watchin’/ But the worst part is really who watched me/ Every night I cried, I almost died/ And nobody close tried to stop it,” she raps on the song.

She continues: “At night, I’m sittin’ in a dark room thinkin’/ Probably why I always end up drinkin’/ Yes, I’m very depressed/ How can somebody so blessed wanna slit they wrist?”
Megan has dealt with a number of personal battles since her rise to fame. Her mother died of cancer in March 2019, with her grandmother also passing away that same month.
The following years were consumed by the aforementioned Tory Lanez shooting case, which concluded last year with the Canadian rapper being sentenced to 10 years in prison.
The show in Tampa also took place shortly after an AI-generated sex tape of Megan began circulating online, which she was unhappy about.

“It’s really sick how yall go out of the way to hurt me when you see me winning,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in response to the footage. “Yall going too far, Fake ass shit. Just know today was your last day playing with me and I mean it.”
