Logic has announced the release date of his next project, although the material on it might be several years old since he’s been teasing it for quite some time now.

On Friday (July 5), the Maryland native took to Instagram and unveiled the tracklist for Ultra 85. In the caption, he shared that the 20-cut LP will go live on August 9.

The album has been in the works for approximately eight years and will feature guest contributions from T Man The Wizard, DJ Drama, ADÉ, Lucy Rose, Zelooperz and Robert Ivory.

Ultra 85 was the original working title of the 34-year-old MC’s short-lived retirement album in 2020. When he signed off under No Pressure instead, many assumed that he simply changed the name of the package while publishing the same tracklist.

However, the outro of “Heard Em Say” from said LP features a robotic voice saying: “This concludes the No Pressure program/ No Pressure– Ultra 85, welcome to the Ultra 85 program.”

Naturally, this left many confused as it didn’t align with Bobby Tarantino’s announced plans of pulling the plug on his music career, which he went back on less than a year later.

Back 2017, soon after the release of Everybody, Logic premiered his new documentary at The Wiltern in Los Angeles — that was also around the time he had started teasing Ultra 85 as his last album.

During a subsequent Q&A panel with the filmmakers, an audience member asked the rapper and producer why his next project would be his last/

“One thing I can say regarding this, and I’m glad you asked this, is it’s gonna be celebratory,” he answered. “It’s not going to be the last time I make music. All my fans who really appreciate me, and they’re going to follow me on this journey — actually, we’re going to hold hands together, whether it’s acting or writing novels, movies, anything.

“So I want you guys to follow me beyond, because Ultra 85 will make eight — you can call them mixtapes if you want — but eight albums. Eight projects over eight years. And now I’m excited to go to the next round of entertainment, on the big screen.”

By that, it seemed like the “rap Larry David” would be shifting his focus away from music, which turns out only happened for a brief phase.
