Lil Wayne kicked off a new season of Young Money radio with the debut of two new songs with 2 Chainz from their forthcoming album.

On Friday (October 27), Weezy returned to the Apple Music airwaves. Alongside Chainz, the pair debuted “Long Story Short” and the Benny The Butcher-assisted “Oprah and Gayle” – both tracks will land on Welcome 2 ColleGrove, which is set to arrive on November 17.

Benny called in to add to their conversation, and spoke on the collab with the seasoned duo.

“Both of these guys’ music and they running me been definitely educational with me and I’m just learning from these dudes,” he said. “I’m trying to impress these guys, man, and show these guys like, ‘Man, thanks for calling me, giving me nine to come get on this track, man.’ You know what I’m saying? This is my first time pulling up on Chainz.”

He also revealed he’d learned the song title in real time and was honored that they named it off of one of his bars.

“The studio was dark. We was just smoking, kicking it. And if I could rap a couple bars off rip, if I could think of something in the first 25 seconds, that mean this is a keeper. That means it’s a heater, and I’m just trying to make sure I’m bringing something … with these giants on this record.

“I’m now seeing that the song is called ‘Oprah and Gale.’ That was my last line. So that’s dope that my last line kind of named the song. So that’s fire.”

Last week, Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where prior to hitting the stage to perform “Presha,” the duo gushed about their longtime friendship.

“I mean, once we linked up, we were friends from there,” said Weezy, noting they first met at an Atlanta studio. 2 Chainz came across to Wayne as a laid-back guy who graduated from college and hooped.

When asked to elaborate on how the pair began as longtime collaborators, they both appeared to get a little shy. “Uh…Wayne wanted cannabis,” said 2 Chainz, signaling to Fallon he was at one point in time Tunechi’s weed supplier.

“And so every time I would go to Atlanta and I wanted to speak about that one thing [marijuana], I would always call [2 Chainz] to talk about that,” Wayne added.

It’s not just 2 Chainz who thinks highly of Lil Wayne, as Master P recently praised the New Orleans rhymer during an interview with HipHopDX.

“Lil Wayne, I mean, he’s the G.O.A.T.,” the No Limit mogul told DX on the red carpet at the City of Hope Spirit of Life Gala last week. “Where we come from – Louisiana to the world – you haven’t seen greatness like that. Lyrical, talented. Shout to Cash Money records. No Limit Records in the building.”
