Lil Nas X has never been shy about his sexuality, and his brother recently revealed that the “Panini” artist helped him get to that place as well.
Nas’ new documentary Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero premiered that the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on Saturday (September 9). As reported by Entertainment Weekly, his brother Tramon Hill makes an appearance and speaks to the support he’s gotten from his outspoken sibling over the years.

“My brother really opened doors for a lot of people,” he says. “Yeah, he opened a door for me. What I mean by that, like, I’m not gay, though, you feel me? I’m bisexual. He helped me be real with myself. My brother made me more open to it.”
The film mainly documents Lil Nas X and his debut tour, 2022’s Long Live Montero, which included hanging with Madonna and facing off against homophobic protesters outside of his shows.
As previously reported, a bomb threat was made against the rapper just ahead of the premiere, which delayed its start time by 20 minutes.

A source close to the situation told Variety that the threat was directed at Lil Nas X due to his Blackness and his sexuality, specifically targeting him as a Black queer artist. However, representatives for TIFF had a different take.
“Earlier this evening, we were made aware by the Toronto Police Service of an investigation in the vicinity of the red carpet for the ‘Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero’ screening,” said a spokesperson for the Toronto International Film Festival, to Variety. “Our standard security measures remained in place during this time and the screening commenced with a slight delay. To our knowledge, this was a general threat and not directed at the film or the artist.”
The threat was later determined to not be credible. As for the film, a release date or outlet has not yet been set for the general public.
Despite his openness, a Twitter troll accused Lil Nas X of being “fake gay” earlier this year – but as usual, he had the perfect clapback.
In March, a self-described Nicki Minaj “stan” account posted a clip of Lil Nas X’s set at Lollapalooza Chile, during which he performed his Saucy Santana-assisted single while rocking a cornrowed ponytail hairstyle and twerking on stage with his backup dancers.

The clip was paired with a caption that read, “I feel like he’s not really gay or not really that feminine it’s so forced.”
The “Montero” rapper quoted the original tweet, adding a sarcastic and dismissive caption of his own: “Oh no guys it’s the estrogen expert.”
