Kid Cudi has been synonymous with weed for years, but he’s currently trying to cut back with the help of an old habit.

The Lonely Stoner took to Instagram on Tuesday (March 5) to share a video of him waving to fans and posing for photos while arriving at Yves Saint Laurent’s Men’s Fall/Winter 2024 fashion show in Paris.

In the clip, Cudi can be seen with a cigarette in his mouth, which is something he addressed in the caption.

“ROCK N ROLLIE @ysl,” he wrote. “P.S. I just started smokin again a couple months ago. I dont plan on keepin this up for too much longer.

“I just smoke cigarettes cuz it helps me cut back on tree. dont worry!! I know my health is important to yall. Love u!”

Kid Cudi previously revealed he quit cigarettes in 2009 after suffering from bronchitis, claiming it put him on his “death bed.”

“I stopped smoking cigarettes. It’s been about 10 months. I quit cold turkey,” he told HipHollywood. “I got bronchitis and it was a really bad situation.

“My temperature went to 105 [degrees]. I was literally on my death bed. I was like, ‘Hey, I’m gonna stop smoking Newports right now.’ It was a wake-up call, I’d been smoking cigarettes for seven years.

“It was like, ‘Man, do I wanna be smoking cigarettes for ten years? Ten more years on top of that? I’m young, I’m 24, I don’t even wanna keep this up, I wanna cut this out.’ I think it’s important for people to value their health, young or old.”

As for weed, the Cleveland native previously quit smoking the drug following the release of his Shia LeBouf-directed “Marijuana” video from 2010’s Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager.

During an interview with MTV at the time, Cudi said he “likes [himself] better” sober and issued a “fuck you” to anyone who didn’t like his decision.

“There were a lot of write-ups where people were just shitting on it and there were a lot of people who were like, ‘We liked you better when you were on drugs,’” he said. “It’s kinda like, ‘Man, OK, well you weren’t a fan to begin with so fuck you.’

“I like myself better off drugs. So it’s about me and it’s about evolving and it’s about change. It’s about becoming a man; it’s about becoming mature.”
