Lil Wayne wasn’t too thrilled that Kevin Durant revealed he and the Phoenix Suns superstar have a collab in the stash that was in the running for a placement on Tha Carter VI.
Last week, Bleacher Report‘s Taylor Rooks got word from KD that he got in the booth with Weezy. She brought up how the baller wanted Wayne to tease a snippet of their collab, but the New Orleans rap deity didn’t like that the element of surprise was now gone.

“Why would KD do that? That was on the wrap. See KD, you messed up,” Wayne said with a laugh. “Now that you done that I just wanted you to know you messed up and that song was considered to be on Tha Carter VI and now that you’ve said something, it’s not going on Carter VI.”
Lil Wayne then revealed that the unreleased track was supposed to land on the Welcome 2 ColleGrove album with 2 Chainz but he ended up saving it for a possible spot on C6.

“It actually was supposed to go on the ColleGrove album that just came out with me and 2 Chainz…but I saved it,” he said.
Wayne lent Durant some high praise while calling him a “jewel” in the studio as an artist and referred to him as a lyrical “backpack rapper” with bars for days.

“KD’s a jewel like something of the past because he’s a backpack rapper,” Wayne added. “You could probably call a timeout in the game and probably ask him to rap and he probably got a verse for you. KD just got bars and it sounds like it.”

Wayne was teasing plans for C6 earlier this year, and it could arrive as his next solo LP in 2024. As for Durant, he’s no stranger to the rap game as he earned executive producer credits on Drake’s For All The Dogs album. He also showcased his rhyming skills during the NBA lockout in 2011.
Lil Wayne has his sights set on the NFL, and he hopes to perform at the Super Bowl LIX when the halftime show comes to his hometown of New Orleans in 2025.
“Just as bad as I wanted to see my name at the top of that list when I was whatever age it was and I would bust into the office and get that Billboard magazine,” he said about wanting to perform.
“Just as an artist, you know, ’cause this has nothing to do with the sport. As an artist, this is an achievement. This has nothing to do with the sport — that’s so crazy. I don’t care what teams are playing, what city it’s in. ‘You performed for the what?!’ Like, what? Oh man, so that right there is an achievement.”

He added: “So to know that a Super Bowl would be… what?! Going to the Super Bowl and watching the Halftime Show and wishing, when you see the artist, you be like, ‘They could’ve sung the song that I was featured on!’ I’m featured on everybody’s song — you could’ve brought me out!”
The Young Money leader then looked into the camera and apologized to his friends and collaborators ahead of time, saying he plans on bringing out precisely zero guests.

“Please do not feel disrespected if you’re an artist from New Orleans, an artist tied to me any kind of way in the music [industry], but know that’s my moment and I earned that moment. So no, I’m not bringing no one!” he said.
