Kanye West has claimed that his controversial “death con” tweet aimed at Jewish people was a result of him being drunk.
The Chicago rap mogul sparked outrage in October 2022 when he posted on X (then Twitter): “I’m a bit sleepy but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.

“I can say this since this is our podcast, I definitely was drinking when I put up the ‘death con’ tweet,” he said. “You know whose alcohol I had inside of me? Bernaurd Arnault, Hennessy. Hennessy… it turns us grey. It literally [brings out] the demons.”

Kanye West’s tweet was in response to Instagram restricting his account after he posted screenshots of an alleged text conversation with Diddy containing antisemetic language.
In the messages, Kanye told the Bad Boy boss: “This ain’t a game Ima use you as an example to show the Jewish people that told you to call me that no one can threaten or influence me I told you this was war Now gone get you some business.”

The posts were made during widespread controversy surrounding the G.O.O.D. Music founder after he wore a “White Lives Matter” shirt at his Yeezy Season 9 fashion show in Paris.
His antisemetic remarks only ramped up in the following months, culminating in him praising Hitler and Nazis during an appearance on controversial conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’ InfoWars podcast.
Kanye’s Twitter was also suspended in December of that year after he posted a photo of a swastika inside the Star of David, a Jewish symbol.
Of course, that wasn’t the only major controversy that Kanye has blamed on the alcohol.

He has also claimed that his infamous interruption of Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards was partly fueled by him swigging from a bottle of Hennessy on the red carpet before the show.
“I was only drinking Hennessy because I didn’t want to go to the awards show because it was a set-up,” he said in an interview with Nick Cannon in 2020.

Other attendees also remember Kanye being drunk that night, with former MTV News correspondent James Montgomery telling Billboard: “I was walking around and I talked to Pete [Wentz] and he told me, ‘Man, Kanye is so drunk. Kanye came up to me inside Radio City and gave me his bottle of Hennessy, and he made me take a swig. The dude is so wasted.’
“I remember seeing later photos of him with Amber Rose with the bottle in one hand, and a handful of her ass in the other.”
