Baby Tate snagged her first Billboard hit on Monday (January 24). The 2022 HipHopDX Rising Star accomplished the massive feat thanks to her contribution to the JID and 21 Savage track “Surround Sound,” which debuted at No. 90 on the Billboard Hot 100.

“WOWWWWWWWWWWW! Baby’s first Billboard Hot 100 entry!” Baby Tate wrote on Instagram. “Can’t afford to stop now. Thank you Jiddy for having me on ur song I love u foreverever FOREVEREVER. AHHHH I’m bout to go take 21 shots of 42! Jk bit I’m bout to go do something idk what yet.”

Baby Tate hasn’t released a stand-alone project since 2020’s After The Rain EP, but the “Pedi” rapper ushered in 2022 by revealing herself to be an ambassador to Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty brand in January.

“What’s something u take pride in?” Tate asked in the caption. “Can you tell what mine is? @savagexfenty #savagexambassador.”

The “Eenie Meanie” star connected with Ri Ri in October 2021 after online trolls criticized her body weight following her AfroPunk set. She joined the Savage X Fenty team alongside other ambassadors like Megan Thee Stallion, Rico Nasty and HipHopDX’s 2021 Rising Star Flo Milli.

The 25-year old also kicked off 2022 by roasting similar Twitter trolls who instead of critiquing her weight, started critiquing her skin tone, saying she’d be more successful if she had lighter skin like R&B singer Tinashe.

“We not making this a me vs Tinashe thing don’t be a weirdo,” Tate replied to a commenter on Twitter. “U wanna know why I am (in your eyes) ‘not as successful’ as the lightskinned ppl you think I should be more successful than. I’ve been an independent artist for the past 7 years. Not because I’m BROWN without a BBL.”
