Kenneth Petty, who is married to Nicki Minaj, is officially registered as a sex offender in the state of California. According to the California Megan’s Law database, he registered sometime after his arrest last Wednesday (March 4).
Petty’s offense is listed in all caps as “ATTEMPTED RAPE BY FORCE OR FEAR.”
Petty was in court on Friday (March 7) where his charges were dropped in L.A. County, but he still faces federal charges for the same offense. He’s expected in court next month and must wear an ankle monitor in the interim. He also must avoid all substances as part of his bond.

Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty was in court on Friday (March 7) after he was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender in the state of California earlier this week.
According to Pitchfork, the charges were dropped in L.A. County, however he still faces federal charges for the same offense.
“The Kenneth Petty case was dismissed today because he faces similar charges in federal court,” the LA County District Attorney’s Office said.

Petty relocated to California in July 2019 but failed to register as a sex offender within five working days of moving. Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995 at the age of 16. He ultimately served time in prison for the offense.
In November 2019, Petty was pulled over in Beverly Hills where officers realized he wasn’t registered. Petty was arrested and released on $20,000 bond. He pleaded not guilty.

According to TMZ, Petty turned himself in on Wednesday (March 4) and was quickly taken into federal custody. Court docs reportedly state he’ll face a judge on Wednesday afternoon.
Petty relocated from New York to California last July, but law enforcement says he was pulled over in Beverly Hills four months later. During the stop, the Beverly Hills Police Department determined Petty was a registered sex offender in New York state but had failed to register in California as required by law.
Petty was arrested and released after putting up a $20,000 bond. The L.A. County D.A. later charged him for failing to register as a sex offender.
In 1995, Petty was convicted for first-degree attempted rape. He then served almost four years in New York state prison and was required to register as a sex offender. If convicted on the federal charge for failure to register, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
