Despite the recent success of Awaken, My Love!, which received a Grammy nomination for Album of the Year, Donald Glover has confirmed his plans to retire Childish Gambino.

Glover shared the news during a Q&A at Sunday’s (January 28) Grammy Awards. The entertainment powerhouse seemed optimistic in his decision to let Childish Gambino go, speaking on the power of endings.

Frazzled fans can take solace in the fact that Glover still plans to release one more project.

“I’m real appreciative of this,” Glover said. “And I’m still making another project right now. But I like endings. I think they’re important to progress. I think that if a lot of things had death clauses in them, we wouldn’t have a lot of problems in the world. To be honest. So, I think endings are good ’cause they force things to get better.”

News of Glover retiring his Wu-Tang Name Generator-created moniker came last year, during his June performance at New York City’s Governor’s Ball Music Festival.

“I’ll see you for the last Gambino album,” he informed the audience at the conclusion of his set.

Glover (as Glover) has found continued success with acting, with his hit FX series Atlanta returning for a second season in March. He’ll also star as Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Star Wars Han Solo spinoff movie.
