Tyler The Creator recently joined the class of artists to participate in NPR’sTiny Desk Concert series. The event marked his first-ever appearance on the popular program that has seen the likes of T-Pain, Chance The Rapper and Anderson .Paak present stripped down versions of their live sets for a close-knit audience.
Tyler, clad in a white tee shirt and bucket hat, performed three tracks from his latest album, Flower Boy: “Boredom,” “See You Again” and “Glitter.”
The 20-minute performance was the show’s first nighttime set ever, filled with colorful lights in a dimly lit room – a specific request from the 26-year-old rapper’s team. Throughout the intimate performance, the Odd Future founder clearly enjoyed himself, even raising his hands in the air at one point to catch the vibe.
His performance at NPR comes just a couple of weeks after Flower Boy earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album. The LP is pitted against JAY-Z’s 4:44, Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN., Migos’ Cultureand Rapsody’s Laila’s Wisdom.
