HipHopDX was in the building for last weekend’s Power 106 Cali Christmas concert at The Forum in Inglewood where Ice Cube, Anderson .Paak, G-Eazy, Madeintyo, D.R.A.M., Lil Yachty and more performed to a nice-sized crowd.
Of course, we were also there on the red carpet to get some time with the artists who performed, including Sailing Team Captain Lil Yachty, who recently made an appearance on Hot 97 host Ebro’s Beats 1 Radio Show last week, saying that he had now listened to Biggie’s entire back catalog, and he was “in the blind” when he called Biggie overrated.
Ebro showed a lot of respect for Lil Yachty’s willingness to talk about where he stands within Hip Hop culture, saying he appreciated him and coming on the show was “real grown man.”
“I didn’t want bad judgment on myself and on my name,” Yachty said. “I didn’t want any bad judgment on myself. That’s why I did that.”

During our short time with the Quality Control artist, King Boat mentioned wanting to vindicate himself from criticism.
“I’ve been getting a lot of positive feedback,” he said. “I don’t know. I asked. I asked. I kind of wanted to redeem myself from the first time. I feel like it contained the flame a little bit. I don’t know yet a hundred percent. I still get hate every day.”
He also had a message for Shia LaBeouf who dissed him in a recent freestyle. Yachty doesn’t seem bothered at all.
“Like I said I’m blessed bro,” said Yachty. “My bank account still large, though. I still got my fans, my house, my mother still has her crib and we still got our cars. I’m blessed. I could never be upset. I’m having fun.”

Calling his 2016 a blessed year, he plans for 2017 to be even better.
“Working on my album,” he said. “Trying to get into acting and movies. Trying to get in all movies. I’m trying to be everywhere.”
