G-Eazy is back with his first new music in a year, after taking some time off to mourn the passing of his mother in 2021 — listen to “Tulips & Roses” below.
The Bay Area native’s new single arrives alongside an accompanying visual, set in the city of Paris – where he also wrote the song. The black and white clip is directed by Roxana Baldovin and features iconic landmarks including the Eiffel Tower and La Nouvelle Eve.

On the Gabriels-sampled track, G affirms that he’s back in the game and ready to dominate again.
“My star’s back shining bright, I just polished it,” he raps. “Something in my spirit woke back up/ Time to go to work pick the slack up/ Please no more comparisons you ain’t gotta bring that up/ Salute my brothers we can all coexist/ Took a hiatus, I’m like what did I miss?/ Gerald’s back in his bag they don’t do it like this.”
Outside of releasing a track named “Angel” in tribute to his late mother last spring, G-Eazy has been quiet on the music front since his These Things Happen Too album in September 2021. The 19-track effort features appearances from Lil Wayne, YG, Demi Lovato, E-40, Ty Dolla $ign, Anthony Hamilton and more.
The album debuted at No. 19 on the Billboard 200 with 19,400 album equivalent units sold – marking his first studio album that didn’t debut inside the Top 5.
Talking to HipHopDX last year, G explained his need to take a break and reset following the album and his mother’s passing.
“I’ve just been allowing myself the time I’ve felt I needed to kinda reset and kinda figure out where I wanna go, and allow myself time to grieve,” G-Eazy said. “For the better part of the last decade I never really took a break, it was always just go go go, so I think it’s important every now and then to slow down and evaluate what it is you wanna do with intention.”

He never stopped creating, though. “A lot of people encouraged me to be kind to myself and to slow down and take my time and not feel rushed back into work,” he explained. “So I just wanted to allow myself that opportunity.
“I’ve just been taking my time with this next record, figuring out what I wanna say and where I wanna go creatively and figure out what feels like the right move for me next, but I stay active in my studio. I record pretty much every night and I think that’s definitely essential.”
