Fat Joe has spoken about his relationship with the late Notorious B.I.G. and the album they were working on at the height of the East Coast-West Coast beef of the ’90s.
During an interview with Cam Capone News posted on Wednesday (July 26), the Terror Squad boss was asked about the full-length record he was working on with Biggie, the majority of which he previously claimed was made up of shots at 2Pac.

The battle of the coasts culminated with both Biggie and ‘Pac getting fatally gunned down months apart from one another, following which the whole ordeal simmered down.
“We made a bunch of songs, y’know what I’m sayin’? But it was like really disrespectful and hateful and so [Biggie] died and 2Pac died,” he revealed. “They might have burnt them shits, to be honest with you, ’cause you know, it was distasteful after the fact.”

Fat Joe said he recorded about eight tracks with Biggie, some of which were produced by Bad Boy key Hitmen D-Dot and Stevie J, among others.

A little later in the chat, Fat Joe reminisced about his favorite memory of the “Juicy” MC. He recalled the phase during which Biggie blew up and became one of rap’s biggest acts, leading him to think their relationship would suffer as a result of fame.
Joe remembers seeing B.I.G. standing atop a truck surrounded by 500 people on the streets of New York, which made him consider walking away because he thought the latter had “probably changed.” As he was about to turn away, Big Poppa called out to him to come over.
The Bad Boy spitter was with Lil’ Kim, whom he asked (so Joe could hear), “What album we been playing?”
“Your album, Joe,” she said in response, to which Biggie added: “We been listening to your shit all day, you stepped your game up.” Joe told this story to illustrate that the late rapper always had love and respect for his peers and didn’t let his success change that about him.

Last month, while discussing his departed friend in an interview with Angie Martinez, Fat Joe revealed that Biggie’s presence is still a constant in his life, saying: “Every time I have a good time — if I’m on a yacht, if I’m celebrating life — anytime I want to feel good, I put on Biggie Smalls. I hear a Biggie Smalls song every single day of my life.”
