EarthGang recently released a new song inspired by one of Adam Sandler’s most popular characters from the 90s and the actor has now endorsed the song himself.

On Friday (June 7), the Dreamville duo teamed up with Benji. and Spillage Village to release “Bobby Boucher,” a single named after the protagonist from The Waterboy. Adam Sandler wrote the 1998 film and played the role of Boucher, a mentally challenged water boy for a college football team.

The film has since garnered a cross-generational following, and EarthGang are the latest among many to have shown it love. They released a music video along with the song and then shared it on Twitter, which eventually caught the attention of the person it was based on.

On Monday (July 10), Sandler retweeted the music-video clip posted by EarthGang and captioned it: “Yo EARTHGANG! Singing along with you! Love, Bobby B.”

It’s a relief to get new music from the duo considering the cards they were dealt earlier this year. In February, EarthGang spent Grammy weekend in Los Angeles like many of their musical peers, but the trip ended on a sour note as they revealed they’d lost hard drives containing new music.

In a Twitter post following the event, the Dreamville pair made a plea for the drive’s return.

“This black bag was last seen in LA Grammy weekend,” they wrote. “In it was our drives with our latest music. RT!! If anybody has seen it pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee DM us.”

The unfortunate news came after a stellar 2022 for the Atlanta duo, who spent the fall opening for Gorillaz as part of an expansive 22-date North American tour produced by Live Nation.

Not too many updates have been shared regarding the music they lost, but considering they have released new music, EarthGang seems to be recovering from their loss.
