Dame Dash seems to be offering up his interest in JAY-Z‘s debut album, despite a 2022 court ruling.

The embattled Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder took to Instagram on Friday (July 19) and posted a photo of Hova’s first album, Reasonable Doubt, alongside a promo photo of the duo alongside the label’s third founder, Kareem “Biggs” Burke.

In the post, Dame wrote: “This shit is for sale 1/3 … only real inquiries only.”

The 2022 court ruling said that Dash was prohibited from selling any part of JAY’s classic debut without permission from Roc-A-Fella, but he was allowed to sell his 1/3rd stake in the overall business.

The ruling read: “As between the Parties, RAF, Inc. [Roc-A-Fella Records] owns all rights to the album Reasonable Doubt, including its copyright, and this Judgment shall prohibit the altering in any way, sale, assignment, pledging, encumbering, contracting with regard to, or in any way disposing of RAF, Inc.’s property interest in Reasonable Doubt, including its copyright, and including through any means such as auctioning a non-fungible token reflecting, referring, or directing to such interest, unless duly authorized by RAF, Inc.; provided, however, that nothing in this Judgment shall prevent Dash from selling, assigning, pledging, encumbering, contracting with regard to, or in any way disposing of his one-third (1/3rd) ownership interest in RAF, Inc.”

The lawsuit arose when Dame planned to auction off a stake in the album Reasonable Doubt as a non-fungible token (NFT) back in 2022.

The Roc-A-Fella co-founder eventually reached a deal with the label, which is quoted above.

It hasn’t been confirmed if Dame’s post implies he wants to sell a part of Reasonable Doubt — which is not permitted unless Roc-A-Fella allows it — or if this is a reference to his entire Roc-A-Fella stake.

Last month, Dame put a new spin on his long-running issues with Hova, having claimed in an interview that he is willing to speak the truth about the rap mogul in ways others aren’t.

In an interview clip uploaded by the Ugly Money Podcast, the 53-year-old reflected on his past with the “Encore” hitmaker while using a colorful metaphor to discuss their infamous fallout.

“A lot of people that have been maybe mistreated by him are scared to speak up on what he did; I’m just not,” he began.

Dash then used a drug-dealing comparison to explain his opinion that Hov treated him unfairly in business.

“If I hit a n-gga with a pack — I hit him with some work — and he runs off on me … until I get my money back, I don’t care if it’s 20 years later, I’m never going to have too many complimentary things to say about that situation. Yeah, we was cool, but he ran off with 10 birds [kilos of cocaine], so what do you expect?

“And a lot of people that say those things, they’ve never been in a position of being a person that cuts checks, works this hard and have had people at that level take them to court.”
