Curren$y and Jermaine Dupri are looking to put a battery in listeners’ backs with their new joint project For Motivational Use Only, Vol. 1 — check it out below.
Released on Tuesday (April 4), the seven-song EP marks the first collaboration between the Jet Life captain and So So Def hitmaker, and fuses Spitta’s stoned hustler sermons, JD’s speaker-rattling sounds and a healthy serving of Southern soul.

The project boasts guest appearances from fellow Southern rap stalwarts T.I. and 2 Chainz, who pop up on “Never Fall Off” and “Off the Lot,” respectively.
In an Instagram post prior to its eagerly anticipated arrival, Curren$y said working with Dupri is a “dream” he’s had since a child and promised there’s plenty more where this came from.

“I had my mind made up ever since the Jump remix by Kris Kross and SuperCat that I wanted to work wit bruh,” he wrote. “Years down the line MTV Cribs walked me thru the garage to see the Ferrari, Benz coupe, and the Bentley that determined rather or not you were actually a big dog.
“As the grind would have it we didn’t link up when I first got in the game because it just wasn’t my time, I’d crossed paths wit the legend often thru making moves wit Wayne but it was clearly not my place to introduce myself or talk about how it was a dream of mine to work with him. I had to play my part ya kno.”

He continued: “The universe is the universe tho and it makes things right when it’s hood and ready to haha. We have a zillion songs recorded at this point but we have selected 7 to form an EP and drop at midnight. New music on Tuesday like it used to be. The OGs remember hahah let’s go y’all.”

“Bruh…. I wish I could’ve took all yall with me to the studio but it was my first time pullin up on the legend. Ain’t wanna show up 1st day with a whole gang with me. But here’s a peek into what we’re cooking,” Curren$y tweeted at the time while reposting the clip.
The New Orleans native also retweeted a separate video of their studio session, confirming a full-length collaboration was in the works. “We gonna do a whole jernt. Whole project,” he exclaimed.
Curren$y certainly manifested his partnership with Dupri, naming a song after the Atlanta legend on his Collection Agency album, which dropped in February 2021.
During a recent interview with TIDAL’s Elliott Wilson, the duo revealed For Motivational Use Only will be a trilogy and teased a second installment dropping in May.
