Big Boi stepped behind the mic for a different purpose than rapping this week as he joined the Atlanta Braves’ broadcast booth for a couple of innings.

The hometown Braves celebrated OutKast Night against the Philadelphia Phillies at Truist Park on Thursday evening (May 25), and Big Boi was in attendance as the first 15,000 fans in the stadium received bobbleheads of the ATL rap superheroes.

Prior to moonlighting as a sports announcer, Big Boi threw out the first pitch before the game, which skipped to home plate.

“Sold out tonight,” he said on his Instagram Story just before hitting the field. “I gotta throw out the first pitch. I been practicing with a rod for the past two days and done tore my muthafuckin’ rotator cuff.”

The 48-year-old then headed to the broadcast booth for the bottom of the third inning where he was blown away at the nasty pitching from Phillies ace Aaron Nola.

“He put the mustard and mayonnaise on that one,” Big Boi said following a Nola strikeout. “Lawd, that boy got some heat on that play. Oh lawd, what is that? That boy’s a magician.”

Big Boi’s broadcasting debut drew rave reviews from fans as they lent their stamps of approval to his color commentary on Instagram.

“Yo, this was great. Keep this going. Baseball with Stank,” one person wrote while another added: “Yo @braves, you gotta make this a regular thing!”

Big Boi proved to be a good luck charm as the Braves beat the Phillies 8-5 to advance to 31-19 on the season and extend their lead over the New York Mets in the NL East.

As for André 3000, he wasn’t in attendance at the Braves game but the OutKast legend was spotted earlier this week casually strolling the streets of Japan while playing his flute.
