Young Thug‘s legal team has revealed the rapper is suffering both mentally and physically due to limited access to healthy food options, in their latest motion to secure bond.

On Thursday (April 27), Atlanta’s 11Alive revealed that the 31-year-old is surviving on snacks like chocolate and chips at the Fulton County Jail, where he’s been “languishing” since May 2022, causing increased concern regarding whether he can be fully present due to increased fatigue.

The “Relationship” rhymer’s attorney Brian Steel also pointed to the absence of health benefits, access to sunlight, outdoor areas, and exercise while he awaits trial — alleging he believes Young Thug is sleep-deprived, as he wakes up at 4 a.m. or 5 a.m. and does not return to jail until late. A routine that is interfering with his ability to prepare for the trial.

To date, Steel has maintained the Atlanta rapper’s innocence and argued that he has “previously put forth compelling evidence, without doubt, that conditions can be imposed which permit bond to be set.”

The lawyer previously told ABC News that Thug (real name Jeffery Williams) does not pose a risk to society and should be released from jail as he awaits trial.

“Mr. Williams is not a risk to commit a crime and he’s not a risk to flee the jurisdiction and that’s what bond is about,” he said.

A viral courtroom video from earlier this year showed the Punk rapper hunched over his desk and resting his head on the table. The footage sparked concern from fans who interpreted it as him looking either defeated or simply exhausted.

As alarming as these concerns sound, this marks the “Trance” MC’s fourth attempt at bond. All previous efforts proved unsuccessful. He awaits Judge Ural Glanville’s ruling.

The 31-year-old faces eight charges in the sprawling case against YSL, who prosecutors allege is not a record label but a “criminal street gang” behind a serious of violent crimes in the Atlanta area dating back to at least 2015.

These include conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act and participation in criminal street gang activity, along with a string of drug and weapons offenses.
