Westside Gunn has preemptively declared his forthcoming album Flygod Is An Awesome God III will be the “#AOTY,” even before announcing a release date for the project.
The Griselda rapper took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday (August 7) to offer fans an update of sorts about the upcoming final installment in the trilogy he kicked of in 2019.

Several excited fans proceeded to reply to the comment asking when they might expect to hear this “album of the year,” however, as of this writing, Gunn has not responded.

After losing a loved one back in April, Westside Gun took some time to himself and reemerged in June to let fans know that a project was on the way.
His next update came on last month, when the Buffalo native gave more details. The original Flygod Is An Awesome Godcame out in 2019, and the sequel followed a year later.

“FLYGOD IS AN AWESOME GOD III (TRILOGY),” he wrote. “This ALBUM IS KRAAAAAZY!!!! I had to Bring the Mask back out bc this shit toooo RAW & DUSTY, I know the game Miss me even though my kids been doing a great job with entertaining… YOUR FATHERS BACK HOME @griseldarecords x MICHELLE”
TNA Wrestling used the lead single “Chocolate Face” as the theme song to their Slammiversary event on July 20 and said that the album will arrive in the Fall.
Last year Westside Gunn declared that he was done making traditional studio albums.
“[This is] going to be the last album where I take the time to say ‘this is an album,’” he told Rolling Stone last year about his 2023 project And Then You Pray For Me. “When I was doing the Hitler Wears Hermes series, I was doing all them projects like mixtapes. I was recording the whole shit in two, three days. I’m not saying I won’t come with a five-song EP with Madlib or I won’t do a seven-song EP with Alchemist or I won’t rap. I’ll do all of that, but making a studio album, I’m done with all that.”

He continued: “It’s back to dumping until I don’t want to dump no more. I’m going to have fun now. It’s no more pressure. This album was pressure to me. I’m testing the waters on a few different things, but it’s all me. It’s not like I’m going out of the box with it or I’m not being me. I’m still me, it’s just kind of a different sound. But at the same time, I don’t know how long I want to ride for.
“I got so much other things I got going on now in my life that’s different. And I have new artists that I also want to break that are super dope. And I know they need my attention because [they] the ones that need the development.”
