Usher‘s son is further proof that you can’t score if you don’t shoot.
Naviyd Ely, the 15-year-old son of the R&B legend, went to extreme lengths to get the attention of PinkPantheress by hijacking his dad’s Instagram account and messaging the British singer.

Usher took to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday (April 24) to reveal his son’s heroic efforts, which resulted in the teen getting more than he probably bargained for.
“Quick story time,” the Confessions crooner began. “So a week or so ago my son, Naviyd, stole my phone so he could dm his favorite artist @pankpantheress.”

PinkPantheress replied: “Hahahahahaa this is wild!”
Naviyd was shocked to get a response and thanked the “Boy’s a Liar” hitmaker for visiting his profile and liking one of his posts.
“OMG I DIDNT THING U WERE GONNA SNWER [sic],” he wrote back. “Thank you for liking my posttt.”
Usher continued the story, explaining how confused he was to see a Powerpuff Girls profile picture in his direct messages.
“Now I just so happened to check my DMs earlier this past week and saw a message exchange from someone with a Powerpuff girl as their profile pic… so I’m like the hell is this,” he said. “I open it and I’m like oh this boy done Dmd this girl from my damn phone.”

The 45-year-old ended up apologizing for his son’s actions once he came across the exchange, telling Pink: “I’m so sorry … my son is a super fan.”
PinkPantheress had no ill feelings about being messaged out of the blue and even invited the Raymond duo to her next concert.

“Don’t apologise! Happy to have this interaction. I’d love to host y’all at the next show,” she said.
Usher was thankful for the invite and ended up letting his son attend the show, despite him stealing his phone.
“U can clearly see where I apologized for my song’s excitement,” he wrote. “But still @pinkpantheress was so sweet to invite us to her show.
“But because he did the MOST just to connect with her on my account… I had to act like he wasn’t allowed to go. BUT… because my son is such a fan of her artistry… I decided to let him go.”

Usher then messaged PinkPantheress on the day of the show to let her know his son would be in attendance.
“My son is at your show tonight,” he said. “I had to send him considering his level of dedication and creativity … to figure out getting your attention through stealing my phone… that’s commitment. Hopefully you guys get to link.”

She replied: “Ofc!!”
Usher later posted a photo of his son backstage with PinkPantheress, followed by a screenshot of a FaceTime call between them. He also shared Naviyd’s Instagram post from the concert.
Usher ended his story by sharing his “parental takeaway” from the whirlwind situation: “This was a great moment for Naviyd … this was him movin on something he was passionate about. Yes… he violated my trust in the process and for that I will never trust him around my phone, but I should have known better.”
He added: “Nonetheless, I appreciate the hustle and him makin in happen. From a text, to a concert, to the artist. He masterminded this whole thing and made it happen. #HustleHard.”
