Tyler, The Creator has confirmed that he has a new album on the way — and fans won’t have to wait long to hear it.

On Thursday (October 17), the Grammy-winning rapper and producer announced on Instagram that his next project is called Chromakopia and will be released on October 28 (which, interestingly, is a Monday, not the usual industry release day of Friday).

He also unveiled the cover art, which is a sepia-tinged photo depicting Tyler wearing a black mask and military suit.

Underneath the horned album title it says: “All songs written, produced and arranged by Tyler Okonma,” referring to his real name.

The same line of text appeared on the artwork for his 2019 album IGOR, which also saw Tyler adopt a distinct look comprised of a blond wig, sunglasses and smart attire.

“CHROMAKOPIA: october 28th. chromakopia.com. the 8th album,” he captioned his post, directing fans to the album’s accompanying website where they can pre-order physical copies as well as merch bundles.

Tyler’s announcement quickly sparked a frenzy among fans and fellow artists alike, with Swizz Beatz commenting: “It’s already a Classic!!!! goodnight !!!!!!!!!!!”

TDE affiliate and award-winning engineer MixedByAli added several fire emojis in the comments section.

While a tracklist has yet to be released, fans have already been treated to one track from Chromakopia — possibly the intro.

On Wednesday (October 16), the Odd Future founder made a surprise return by sharing a new song called “St. Chroma,” which he referred to on Instagram as “1. st chroma.”

The one-minute and 24-second song hears Tyler adopting a whispered flow over stomps and handclaps, spitting braggadocious bars like: “Really ballin’ in this bitch, I’m the hottest in this bitch / Give a fuck about no bark, I’m chasing dogs up out of this bitch.”

It then builds towards a soulful climax with guest vocals from Daniel Caesar, before suddenly veering into a frantic, hard-hitting beat.

The track was accompanied by a military-themed video which features Tyler dressed in the same outfit as his album cover, alongside several masked extras who march into a shipping container that eventually explodes.

Chromakopia will arrive just in time for Tyler, The Creator’s 2024 Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, which takes place on November 16 and 17 at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium.
