Ty Dolla $ign keeps his personal life out of the news for the most part, but his latest offering seemingly reveals that his relationship didn’t make it into 2023.
Released on Friday (December 30), the Los Angeles hit-maker pines over a love lost on “2022,” though the visual takes viewers through a montage of Ty’s whirlwind year – with cameos from the likes of Future, YG, Wiz Khalifa, Mario and more.

“All this hate in the air and I know that life ain’t fair/ For you to leave me, leavin’ our memories in 2022,” Ty sings on the song. “Ooh, I thought, I thought it would be me/ But my momma, my momma, my momma knew, 2023 I’d be with someone new.”
Though his career continued to rise, a potential breakup wasn’t the only hiccup that Ty dealt with on the personal side in 2022. In early December, the “Or Nah” singer was hospitalized after a skateboarding accident – but thankfully he was able to be released just a few hours later.

“Just watching this shit gave me a headache again [face palm emoji, skull emoji],” Ty Dolla $ign wrote when he shared a video of the fall a few weeks later. “Happy holidays everyone and keep pushing your friends to the next level. Never give up. I’ll be back at the park once the doctor says I’m good and I’ll where a helmet next time I promise. I know I know even Tony where’s [sic] a helmet.”
The clip then shows Ty performing with Mario just after being released from the hospital, as well as getting some kind words from the singer backstage – a moment that was also featured in the “2022” music video.
“I’m just glad you good! We need you mobile, but people like me need people like you, bro,” Mario told Ty. “Who understand music bro, who understand the culture. Aight, for instance, I never went in the studio with somebody and was pressured to write like I was pressured to write with you. I ain’t never felt that pressure before. But it was good for me.”
