Trinidad James has shared his thoughts on Iggy Azalea chiming in on the on-going controversy surrounding Tory Lanez decade-long sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
The Trinidadian-American recently caught up with TMZ at LAX, where he shared his stance on the issue.

“I think the best thing I can say is, if you shoot somebody, you should go to jail to think about your actions,” he began, sharing with the news outlet his initial thoughts on Tory Lanez’s 10-year bid.
“If you didn’t shoot somebody and you go to jail and you doing 10 years, for something you didn’t do, It kind of reminds me of the Kendrick Lamar lyric of like the one who pulls the trigger has to live forever because after you kill somebody they die right then and there. But you got to think about killing somebody. So it’s the same analogy.”

He continued, “It’s like if this person didn’t shoot you, right? If it didn’t happen and they’re going to jail for 10 years, their life is not over. But, their career is hurt tremendously. Then you have to live with that, forever.”
Later, when asked his thoughts regarding Iggy Azalea (among others) publicly sounding off about the controversy — suggesting a 5-year stint would have been more suitable for the crime — he proposed the rapper keep her nose out of grown folks’ business. “I mean, Iggy Azalea said how she felt, She shouldn’t have said anything. It’s not her business, right? But, it is her opinion.

Further, the “Skeeyee” recording artist recommended the 31-year-old “write music” to keep his spirits high.
On Monday (August 7) Tory Lanez (real name Daystar Peterson) appeared in court in Los Angeles for his sentencing hearing, roughly eight months after being found guilty of firing several shots at Megan during a drunken dispute in July 2020.
Despite staring down a potentially substantial prison bid, the embattled rapper had no shortage of support inside the courtroom, which was partly filled with family and friends.
According to Law&Crime reporter Meghann Cuniff, Judge David Herriford also received over 70 letters in support of Tory, with one of the most notable coming from Iggy Azalea — who was rumored to be dating Lanez last year.

In the letter, which was written in February, the “Fancy” hitmaker claimed the Canadian rapper wasn’t an “abuser” and that she hoped the judge would offer him some “leniency” when it came to sentencing him.
Despite backlash from Megan Thee Stallion’s fans Iggy — who previously defended her actions stating she had not “been in touch with Tory for months” nor was she in “support” of anyone — seemingly appeared to backtrack when she took to Twitter to explain why she believed Tory should have received a lighter sentence.

“I really hate that this is todays discourse online because it’s not really an explosive revelation,” she wrote. “Yes: he should be held accountable. No: the charges don’t warrant 5plus in prison. Most agree with that sentiment because it’s a reasonable take. This is not news worthy. [shrug emoji].”
