Travis Scott suffered a serious case of sophomore week slump with Days Before Rodeo, his decade-old project that was just released commercially for the first time.

In the project’s initial week, it came within a few hundred units of hitting the top of the Billboard 200 album chart, losing so narrowly to Sabrina Carpenter’s Short N’ Sweet that Scott’s label wrote to Billboard disputing the decision.

In the second week of release for both albums, the Billboard 200 chart released Tuesday (September 10) but dated September 14 shows Carpenter’s project again on top with 156,000 album-equivalent units.Days Before Rodeo, on the other hand, has dropped to number 30.

According to ChartData, Scott’s project suffered the biggest percentage decline in sales this decade for an album that still managed to remain on Billboard’s album chart, slipping down 94.7% in sales during its second week.

If his recent public statements are any indication, Scott is not looking backwards at Days Before Rodeo, however, but instead forward to what’s next.

In an interview with visual artist George Condo for Cultured Magazine on Thursday (September 5), the Cactus Jack rapper revealed that he’s “back in album mode” and “amped” about the new material that he’s working on.

During the conversation, Condo — who designed the artwork for Scott’s “Franchise” single, as well as Kanye West‘s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy — said to Travis: “I remember we were in Electric Lady [Studios] and you were like, ‘I want four chords on a piano.’

“All of a sudden you had that little microphone next to you, and you’d say something like, ‘I’m gonna juggle my urges.’ Would you ever go back and work again in that studio?”

The Houston native replied: “I’m gonna be back in New York. I’m back in album mode. I’ve been working on music and shit every day on tour. When I’m doing the stadiums, because they’re sold out, I can see the music for what it is. I’m fucking amped.”

The “I KNOW?” hitmaker has offered up other clues about what his next album might sound like.

Earlier this year, he teased the possible concept of his fifth LP after a fan speculated about what direction he might take.

“Imagine an album where each song is the city it was made in on the tour,” the fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
