The Weeknd’s upcoming show THE IDOL has received a release date and a brand new trailer as the raunchy original series will be coming to HBO in June.

A two-minute trailer arrived on Monday (April 17) showing The Weeknd trying to help steer Lily-Rose Depp’s character, Jocelyn, back to superstardom as the “bad girl” of pop music, while simultaneously juggling a brewing romantic relationship.

“Pop music is like the ultimate trojan horse,” Abel (Tedros) says. “You get people to dance, you get people to sing along.”

The seductive teaser is fittingly built around a rework of Britney Spears’ 2007 anthem “Gimme More” as Mike Dean and BLACKPINK’s Jennie make cameos in the clip. Look for the show to premiere on HBO on June 4.

The raunchy and already controversial series finds the Toronto megastar playing the role of a self-help guru, club owner and leader of a modern-day cult, who starts dating a pop artist looking to regain her celebrity status (played by actress Lily-Rose Depp).

Euphoria’s Sam Levinson also serves as THE IDOL‘s co-creator, while the rest of the cast includes Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Dan Levy, Eli Roth and more.

Meanwhile, The Weeknd revealed plans for a new project titled The Idol Vol. 1, which is slated to be a companion album to the HBO show.

The Canadian crooner announced the project on Instagram on April 12, while also giving fans their first “taste” of the new tunes.

Abel’s post contained a snippet of a cinematic track, which sounded as if he was directing an orchestra behind a dramatic scene.

“THE IDOL VOL. 1  coming soon (double fantasy & jealous guy just a taste),” he wrote in his caption.

Prior to making a surprise appearance at Coachella over the weekend, the XO boss recently previewed a cover of John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy,” as well as new songs with Future and Mike Dean.

The Weeknd’s real songs may not be enough to fill fan’s needs. On Friday April 14, an AI-generated song featuring artificial vocals by The Weeknd and Drake was posted to Youtube.

The track, titled “heart on my sleeve,” was posted to YouTube on Friday (April 14) by someone known as ghostwriter, featuring the artificial vocals of both entertainers.

“Got these pearls on my neck, got these girls on my check like Selena baby,” the artificial Weeknd sings, referencing his ex, Selena Gomez. “Oh my genie maybe yeah, she taking the lambo for a drive using the fancy door/ When she went out the store, I throw my heart on my sleeve.”
