The LOX have shown off the chemistry, charisma and well-rehearsed synergy that has made them one of the greatest rap groups of all time while making their Tiny Desk Concert debut.
The Yonkers trio ran through some of their biggest hits during the intimate performance for NPR, putting special twists on classics such as “Money, Power, Respect,” “Recognize” and Jadakiss‘ “We Gonna Make It.”

Despite not being known for performing with a live band, The LOX recruited Jack White’s drummer Daru Jones for assistance, as well as vocalist Le’Asha plus Tiny Desk Concert veterans Carrtoons and Kiefer on bass and piano, respectively.
The group also recruited a string section for “We Gonna Make It” and “Money, Power, Respect” to close out the performance.

The LOX aren’t the only rap legends to appear on the Tiny Desk Concert series, with past performers including the Wu-Tang Clan, The Roots, Juvenile, Tyler, The Creator and the late Mac Miller.
Scarface also put on a widely acclaimed set last December which saw him play classic songs such as “On My Block,” “I Seen a Man Die” and Geto Boys‘ “Mind Mind Playing Tricks on Me” alongside longtime collaborator Mike Dean and a live band.
His performance received particularly lofty praise from fellow Hip Hop pioneer Q-Tip, who was inspired to break his social media sabbatical and share a link to the video on X, writing: “@BrotherMob we needed this.”
Scarface’s Tiny Desk Concert was so well-received that he announced a U.S. tour inspired by his performance. The aptly-titled Brad “Scarface” Jordan Behind The Desk Experience took the Houston rap legend across the country this past spring.

The LOX are also currently on the road celebrating their 30th anniversary. Jada, Styles and Sheek kicked things off in early June at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall and have since swung through Houston, Atlanta and Boston, among other cities.
The trio’s next show scheduled for August 3 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and marks roughly the halfway point of the tour, which comes to a close on December 6 in Portland.
