The 28-year-old was among a group of people — which also included his uncle and Migos groupmate Quavo — watching a dice game when an altercation broke out and shots were fired.

Takeoff was reportedly struck “either in the head or near the head” and was pronounced dead at the scene by police. Two other victims were taken to the hospital, while Quavo was unharmed.

Gucci Mane, Killer Mike, Joe Budden, Lloyd Banks and Boosie Badazz were among the horde of Hip Hop figures who mourned Takeoff’s sudden passing on social media.

But as the sad news continued to sink in on Tuesday, more tributes to the late Migos lyricist poured in from the likes of Drake, Future, 21 Savage, Travis Scott, 2 Chainz and others.

“I got the best memories of all of us seeing the world together and bringing light to every city we touch,” Drizzy wrote on Instagram next to a photo of him sharing the stage with Takeoff. “That’s what I’ll focus on for now [sad face emoji] rest easy space man Take.”

Drake, who toured North America with Migos in 2018, also posted several photos of Takeoff on his Instagram Stories, including a photo of him and the trio dressed in Soul Train-inspired outfits for their “Walk It Talk It” video.

“We were supposed to be all looking like this in our 60’s for real,” he captioned the photo along with several sad face emojis.

21 Savage, a close friend and collaborator of the Migos family, expressed his heartbreak by sharing photos of him and Takeoff on Instagram with the message: “It always be the ones who really don’t deserve it [broken heart emoji].”

Fellow Atlanta kingpin Future saluted Takeoff in a brief tweet on Wednesday morning (November 2), calling him “forever legendary.”

Travis Scott, who worked with Takeoff on Astroworld, posted a black-and-white photo of him and the slain rapper on his Instagram Stories along with the caption: “Forever the space cadet Forever the rocket the most humble the illest 4ever Take.”

Metro Boomin, who recently lost his mother, admitted on Instagram that he “cried real tears” over Takeoff’s death. The “Bad and Boujee” producer also shared his journal entry from Wednesday morning, in which he wrote about how his pain and grief has brought him “closer” to God.

Takeoff’s death left T.I. and 2 Chainz at a loss for words, with the Atlanta Hip Hop veterans struggling to articulate their devastation.

“I’m usually the one with the perfect way to articulate thoughts but this has me baffled,” Tip wrote on Instagram. “Lil bro was a real solid, respectful, honest, quiet, polite kid who conducted himself like a Man of Respect and Stayed out the way.”
