SZA has shared an unlikely cover of Eminem‘s “Lose Yourself,” turning the motivational rap-rock anthem into a tender R&B ballad.
The TDE songstress posted a snippet of her rendition of the Oscar-winning hit on Instagram on Thursday (May 30), which finds her keeping the original lyrics in tact but putting her trademark wistful style on them.

The cover also caught the attention of Eminem himself, who slid into the comments section and simply posted a shocked face emoji.
Denaun Porter from D12 also remarked that he “loved it,” while fellow R&B singer DRAM wrote: “This is beautiful.”
While SZA won’t be officially releasing the cover, she did upload the snippet on the same day that Eminem dropped “Houdini,” the first single from his upcoming 12th album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce).
The track features him revisiting his 2002 hit “Without Me” while also making jokes about Megan Thee Stallion and R. Kelly.

“Houdini” finds Slim Shady making light of Megan’s 2020 shooting at the hands of Tory Lanez, which left her with bullet fragments in her feet.
Rapping over a cartoonish beat that also samples the Steve Miller Band’s “Abracadabra,” Slim Shady makes light of Megan;s 2020 shooting at the hands of Tory Lanez, which left bullet fragments in her feet (and resulted in Tory’s imprisonment).
“If I was to ask for Megan Thee/ Stallion if she would collab with me/ Would I really have a shot at a feat?” he raps.
The wordplay continues when Em later makes a joke about R. Kelly and the leaked sex tape that allegedly showed him urinating on a minor.
