Swizz Beatz has revealed that he believes his late friend and collaborator DMX spiritually sent emerging star Scar Lip his way to collaborate and provide mentorship.
Speaking with Audacy’s Hip-Hop Made, the Ruff Ryders hitmaker explained how his connection to Scar Lip was sparked by DMX’s spirit as the Yonkers legend’s fiancée Desiree Lindstrom was the one who implored him to work with the burgeoning Bronx native.

“I honestly feel like DMX sent Scap Lip my way because she’s too much of his energy,” he began. “Like I’ve never seen an artist that just naturally have what I know DMX have. And they two different artists, two different levels, yes. But I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about in here.
“You know, like, that sister’s been through a lot, like Dog been through a lot. That sister, you know, is when you sit with her, she’s amazing and have a great heart the same way X had a great heart.

“You know what I’m saying? Like, she just represents the have-nots, like X represent[ed] the have-nots. And for her to had gone through all those different things and still have a smile on her face. I’m like, ‘Man, she gotta win.'”

Swizz worked with Scar Lip in April when he recruited her for his Hip Hop 50: Vol. 2 EP, which saw the 22-year-old rap alongside New York giants Jadakiss and Benny The Butcher on the track “Take ‘Em Out.”
Scar Lip received s major co-sign earlier this month when Snoop Dogg jumped on the remix of her breakout hit, “This Is New York” for “This Is Cali.”

The collaboration comes after Scar Lip received praise from fellow Bronx native Cardi B – which left the burgeoning star in tears as she continues to elevate her career.
This wasn’t the only time Swizz claimed to feel DMX’s spirit around him. He spoke about the late rap icon coming to visit him in a vivid dream one night during an interview with The Breakfast Club last month.
“Man, honestly, it don’t even feel like he’s gone,” Swizz said. “It just feels like he’s away, somewhere chillin’. And then the anniversary will come around or I’ll speak to his fiancée or I’ll speak to his son and I’m like, ‘Whoa.’
“Or I’ll see a video or I’ll scroll through my phone and see pictures and it’ll hit me. But the thing that make me feel easy about it is he came to me.”

He continued: “I seen him in my dream. He came to me. And this was, like, super quick too. And he let me know he was good. I’m the person that be like, ‘He ain’t come to see you, what you talkin’ about?’ I seen him. I felt him, I can smell like — I just couldn’t hear him talk.”
