In a video shared on Instagram by his close friend and collaborator Sheff G (who is currently incarcerated himself on a 2021 weapons possession charge), Sleepy can be seen popping a bottle of champagne outside the detention facility while being welcomed home by a group of friends.
“@_sleepyhallow_ home I’m next free me free the guys,” Sheff captioned the clip, which was soundtracked by his 2020 song “Lights On.”
While details surrounding his arrest remain scarce, police records show Sleepy Hallow (real name Tegan Chambers) was arrested on June 24, 2022 for second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
The 23-year-old rapper, who was on probation at the time, was subsequently sentenced and given a projected prison release date of February 13, 2023.

He addressed his incarceration on his Instagram Stories at the time, writing “FREEE ME” along with fingers crossed and smiling face with horns emojis.
Shortly before his arrest, a video surfaced showing Sleepy Hallow and his entourage fighting with staff at a restaurant in East Rutherford, New Jersey, although it’s unclear if that incident was related.
Footage of the wild brawl showed chairs and ketchup bottles being thrown between Sleepy’s crew and the restaurant workers. One of the employees claimed that the rapper’s crew were rude to the staff and demanded special treatment before initiating the fight.
“He and his group showed up were rude AF to myself and the rest of the staff and then they tried to fight us and threw chairs,” they wrote in a text exchange with a friend that was shared on Twitter. “No one on my side was badly hurt besides a couple busted lips and scratches.”

They added: “Dudes legit showed up saying ‘you better treat us right, we the richest n-ggas in here.’ Expect food for 8 people to be done in 10 minutes. They tried to fight us and security/police had to get involved.”
On the music side, Sleepy Hallow’s last full-length project arrived in July 2021 with his debut album Still Sleep?, which debuted at No. 16 on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified gold by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).
