Skepta and Frank Ocean‘s 2018 collaboration “Little Demon” was never properly released, which has led the British rapper to reminisce about what could have been.
Taking to his Instagram Story on Wednesday (January 18), Skepta reflected on the track and the bars he laid down. While he noted how “fuckin’ hard” they were, he also admitted he couldn’t remember all of them.

“Every once in a while I think about my verse on Little Demon with Frank,” he wrote. “The first 8 bars on that leak is so fuckin’ hard but I don’t remember the rest of the lyric kmt”

Frank Ocean initially teased “Little Demon” with a snippet on Instagram in late 2018. A year later, the Odd Future singer played the Arca-produced track on his Blonded Radio show on Beats 1 and put it up for sale as a 7-inch single. However, three months later in February 2020, Frank’s website sent out an email telling fans the vinyl release was canceled with no explanation as to why.
Frank hasn’t released a full body of work since 2016’s Blonde, but a recent update from the elusive singer has fans thinking something may finally be on the way.
Along with the re-release of the aforementioned album on vinyl in late December was a foldout poster that tells the story of a “fictitious Recording Artist” and his dealings with the music industry.
The story, which closely mirrors Frank’s own journey, states that the artist wanted to forego the “outdated” album format and instead solely release singles – but that the pandemic caused the artist to U-turn on his plans and “is again interested in more durational bodies of work.”

Concrete details surrounding a new Frank Ocean album still remain scarce. The most recent update came in September 2021 when it was reported he was shopping the project to various record labels in hopes of securing a distribution deal. Sources close to the situation described the music as “fucking great.”
Frank’s confirmation as a headliner at this year’s Coachella also speaks to a project likely looming in the near future, but fans will just have to wait and see.
