The doc is part of a deal the rapper-turned-politician struck with Disney-owned brands ESPN and Andscape earlier this year.

In a statement to Billboard, Shyne said: “Immigrating from Belize to Brooklyn as a child left to survive and thrive in the concrete jungle of New York, Hip Hop had a massive influence on my life, giving me the space and community to explore my creativity and amplify the voice of my pain and purpose. The difficult decisions of my life have shaped me into the person I am today, steadfast in my desire to build a better life for the people of Belize and humanity.”

He continued: “By bringing my story to audiences, I hope to inspire them to find the indomitable spirit within so they can overcome all adversities and be the best version of themselves positively impacting their part of humanity with their unique footprint as I have done through music, faith and public service.”

The Honorable: Shyne is being directed by Marcus A. Clarke, with production by ColorCreative.

In the announcement of the aforementioned partnership Shyne made with Disney earlier this year, it was announced that a documentary, scripted biopic, a docu-series and an autobiography with DJ Khaled and Roc Nation producing would be made.

While the deal may be new, Shyne first spoke to HipHopDX about his documentary projects in 2021 – revealing he would also make his way back into the booth to support the new endeavors.

“I will be doing a bio movie and bio documentary as well as a bio TV series, which will all have corresponding soundtracks,” he told DX. “I will be making music for those. But for those projects, not for a career, just as an attachment to those projects. You can’t have a movie without a soundtrack. And so I would have to create music for the movie and for the documentary.

“I would have to create music for the TV series. But again, you’ll hear a lot of Belizean artists with my American artist friends. So it would be a great opportunity to give the Belizean musicians a platform.”

A release date has not yet been set on The Honorable: Shyne.
