Scarface has brought some of his southern rap classics to life in an NPRTiny Desk Concert.
For the much-anticipated performance, the Geto Boys legend brought on board his longtime producer and collaborator Mike Dean, as well as a live band and backing singers.

With Dean injecting his signature synths into several songs, Facemob performed stunning renditions of hits such as “On My Block,” “Mary Jane,” “I Seen a Man Die” and “Mind Mind Playing Tricks on Me.”
Full of heart and warmth, the Texas native paid tribute to 2Pac after performing their 1997 collaboration “Smile” and asked the intimate audience to “save a prayer” for the late rap legend.

He also made it a family affair, bringing out his son Bryce towards the end of the set and praising him as an “exceptional musician” who is “4,000 times better than I’ll ever be.”

Scarface’s Tiny Desk Concert was hotly anticipated due to series producer DJ Cuzzin B hyping it as one of the best from any rapper.
“I just watched an edit of Scarface’s Tiny Desk. Yeah…. it’s the best hip-hop tiny desk we’ve ever put out. A new crown holder…. Monday,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter) last week.

The rap legend had earlier been spotted at NPR’s offices in Washington, D.C. alongside Dean, leading to speculation that he was going to be a part of the long-running series.
Since launching the series in 2008, NPR has hosted hundreds of Tiny Desk Concerts which see artists put on intimate performances from inside the organization’s offices.
Some of the most notable Hip Hop appearances on the show have come from Mac Miller, Anderson .Paak and Tyler, The Creator.
Last year, Scarface embarked on a 32-date farewell tour to commemorate his more than three decades in Hip Hop. It also came after years of health issues including a kidney transplant which involved his son giving him a kidney.

At the time, Scarface said: “My son saved my life and I can’t say enough about him. That boy saved my life man. And I love him so much. But I always said that shit though. He’s the best son a guy could have. Chris, you ain’t shit [laughs]. Don’t make me laugh, Chris. C’mon dawg.”
