“Let me tell you why this Tiny Desk was such a moment for me,” he said. “Because Mike Dean actually played the parts in the [original] songs, so he knows the parts. You don’t have to teach him the parts, because those parts came from him.”
For the mini-concert, Scarface was accompanied by longtime collaborator Mike Dean on keyboards with the two having worked together for over 30 years.
Killer Mike has also spoken on the record about his longtime admiration of Scarface.
During an interview with B High ATL in 2022, Mike said: “The greatest in my book is Scarface. Nobody else has had a career since 1987 to now and never dropped a wack album.

“Nobody else will give you a song like ‘Boy Meets Girl’ that talks about the mixture of ecstasy and cocaine in the form of a drug dealer and a stripper. Nobody else give you a song about suicide having just been with his boy.
“All that’s my real life. He is the artist I aspire to be like in terms of longevity, in terms of relevance, in terms of growth and style.”
