Safaree has revealed how a steamy on-screen interaction between his ex-lover Nicki Minaj and Nas left him feeling blue.
In 2012, Nicki dropped the video for “Right By My Side,” her collaboration Chris Brown from Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. The clip starred Nas as Minaj’s love interest, with the Queens natives famously locking lips.

Looking back on the video over a decade later, Samuels has now confessed that he had an issue with the intimate interaction.
“You wanna know what’s so crazy? I didn’t know it happened until the video came out,” he revealed during an appearance on the Keep It A Stack Podcast. “N-gga, I was hurt. When that shit happened, I was hurt.
“I was there the whole day so I was like, ‘Damn. Did that happen when I left to go? I must’ve left for like an hour, two hours and I think that’s when that scene happened, yo.”
In 2017, the rumor mill ran rampant with claims that Nicki Minaj and Nas were an item after they were seen cozying up together at his Sweet Chick restaurant in New York City.
Prior to that, a video surfaced of Nas kissing and licking Nicki’s face at his 44th birthday party.

Later, during an interview with daytime talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, the “FTCU” rhymer admitted that while she and Nas had sleepovers, they hadn’t done the “nasty.”
The couple reportedly broke up in early 2018 after less than a year of dating, with distance cited as the reason.

Meanwhile, Safaree and Nicki Minaj dated from 2000 until their tumultuous split in 2014. Throughout their nearly 15-year relationship, the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star allegedly contributed to several of the Young Money hitmaker’s albums including Pink Friday, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and The Pinkprint.
In 2015, Safaree even considered suing Nicki for royalties he believed he was owed for his work on these projects.
Despite their sour separation, Safaree — who previously blamed Nicki Minaj’s ex Meek Mill for their split — has repeatedly praised the Queen rapper as one of his best partners.
Following a January 2015 interview with The Breakfast Club, the Brooklyn native dispelled rumors of ghostwriting for Nicki during their relationship and expressed gratitude for meeting her.

Both Safaree and Nicki Minaj have since moved. In 2019, Samuels married his Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta co-star Erica Mena, but Mena filed for divorce two years later while pregnant with their second child.
