Royce Da 5’9″ has proclaimed that Tyler, The Creator is “one of the greatest” artists in his eyes, going beyond social media to tell the Odd Future founder in person.
In an Instagram post on Friday (February 3), Royce shared his opinion along with a photo of the moment where he gave Tyler his props directly.

“Me telling @feliciathegoat He’s officially one of the Greatest, in my humble opinion,” the Detroit native captioned the post.
While the two wordsmiths have never worked together, they do have a bit of history.
Shortly after the release of the 2014 release of Eminem and Shady Records’ compilation album Shady XV, Tyler The Creator took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the effort, calling it “fucking ASS.”
During a subsequent interview with VLAD TV, Royce Da 5’9″ offered his thoughts on Tyler The Creator’s remarks about his Bad Meets Evil partner.

“I don’t really have much of a take on it,” Royce Da 5’9″ said. “What can you say? He said his opinion. It’s the kid’s opinion and what am I gonna do? Get mad at him? We’re living in that era now, man. That’s like I go over to a girl house that I’m trying to smash and her little kid [or] little baby brother is in there and he’s like, ‘You smell like marijuana!’ And everybody laugh because it’s the little kid and he’s saying something crazy. And everybody cares because it’s the little kid with the voice. That’s kind of how it is, man. I don’t care, man. What am I gon’ do about that?
Royce Da 5’9″ later recalled his last meeting with the Ladera Heights, California rapper and subsequently stated that he wasn’t offended by what Tyler had to say.

“The last time I seen Tyler The Creator, those guys were running around the dressing room with fucking capes and shit on,” Nickle said. “It just felt like we were in the room with some fun kids. And that’s really how I look at them. I’m not about to start getting offended by everything he said or anything like that. If the kid got his opinion, he got his opinion. It’s just what it is.”
The two artists’ most recent encounter took place at DJ Drama‘s private listening event for his forthcoming album I’m Really LikeThat, which was held in Los Angeles on Saturday (February 4) to coincide with the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
Following the event, Royce Da 5’9″ took time out to publicly praise the Gangsta Grillz DJ’s latest offering with an IG post which he captioned: “Congrats on another BANGER @djdrama ….”
In November, Drama shed some light on his new album, giving fans a glimpse at some of the big names set to appear on the project.

The legendary Philadelphia-bred DJ shared several photos on Instagram showing him putting in work on the album in the studio. In his caption, Drama hinted at the project arriving sooner rather than later, writing: “ALBUM MODE IM REALLY LIKE THAT COMING SOON GEN•NOW.”
DJ Drama’s slideshow included photos of a heavily redacted tracklist on a whiteboard. A close examination, however, reveals a slew of potential A-list features including Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Baby, Gucci Mane, Offset, Lil Durk, Roddy Ricch, Jack Harlow, Freddie Gibbs and Doe Boy.
I’m Really Like That will serve as DJ Drama’s first solo album since 2016’s Quality Street Music 2, which boasted appearances from Lil Wayne, T.I., Young Thug and others. Further details surrounding the new project remain scarce.
The album announcement comes at a busy time for Drama. Over the last few years, the Philadelphia native has resurrected his beloved Gangsta Grillz series with several high-profile releases from the likes of Tyler, The Creator, J. Cole and Dreamville, Jeezy, Snoop Dogg, Jim Jones, Symba and more.

The new project doesn’t seem to have impacted DJ Drama’s productivity outside of his own music. Since the announcement, he partnered with French Montana to deliver Coke Boys 6 in January.
Last December, Juelz Santana announced he was going to link with DJ Drama for a Gangsta Grillz mixtape titled We In Motion that’s slated to arrive very soon. He’s been teasing singles with Jadakiss, Joyner Lucas and more. Pusha T and Drama also announced they’ll be linking up for a Gangsta Grillz project during a Twitter Spaces chat with Rap Radar’s B. Dot last month.
