It was reported by People that the Barbadian singer was absent from the swanky fashion event due to illness.

RiRi, who is usually a mainstay at the annual New York City gala, had recently teased her attendance but did not show, purportedly due to a bout of the flu.
The imagination of some fans went into overdrive, with some speculating that her absence from the red carpet means she and boyfriend A$AP Rocky could be expecting another child together.

One fan definitely did not buy the flu excuse: “If you believe Rihanna has the flu in MAY, then I have a winning Powerball ticket to sell you. That lady is PREGNANT. She be gaslighting the Navy something severe!”
Rumors that Rihanna is expecting baby number three started late last month when she appeared at a Fenty Beauty event and was handed a glass of champagne.
In a widely-circulated clip, the 36-year-old puts her lips to the rim of the glass and pretends to drink from it but does not actually swallow any of the alcohol.
Even though the power couple already have two sons — RZA (born in May 2022) and Riot (born in August 2023) — RiRi recently revealed that she is open to having at least one more child with A$AP Rocky.

“I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two,” she said during a conversation with her longtime stylist and Interview Magazine editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg. “I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”
She also praised Rocky as a doting father and said that the COVID-19 lockdown “sped up” their relationship, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
