Pop Smoke‘s murder made its way back to headlines last week when one of his killers was released from custody; and now that has raised more eyebrows with his first interview.
In an interview clip posted to Instagram by No Jumper on Friday (July 5), Blockstar — who was just 15 years old at the time of the 2020 murder — tells Adam22 that he doesn’t regret anything about the incident.

“I’m not sorry about nothing,” Blockstar stated. “It should’ve never happened, but I ain’t sorry. If I could go back, I’d go back. But I ain’t sorry. People die every day. [Pop Smoke] was rapping about it. All types of stuff. So, I ain’t sorry about it.
“I send my condolences to the family. I wish it never happened. But I don’t regret nothing. Growing up, my people, my family told me, ‘You ain’t sorry for nothing. Whatever you did, you did it for a reason and stand on it.’”
The youngest of the four men charged in the killing of Pop Smoke (born Bashar Jackson), Blockstar was released from juvenile detention last week after serving a four-year sentence, which TMZ reports was handed down as part of a plea deal in 2023.
Shortly after his release, footage emerged of the young man attempting to cut off an ankle monitor.

The No Jumper interview comes as a bit of the twist, as the outlet found itself at odds with Blockstar for posting that footage.
According to Hot97, he accused the controversial outlet of “exploiting his name and story for their own benefit.” Blockstar didn’t make similar accusations against any other outlet.

Late last month, Corey Walker — the only person charged as an adult for Pop Smoke’s murder — received a new trial date after he failed to agree a plea deal with prosecutors.
Walker’s lawyer Deion Benjamin told Rolling Stone: “Negotiations fell through. But there’s still a possibility we’ll come to an agreement. A few things need to be ironed out. If they don’t get resolved, we’ll go to trial.”

If no plea deal is agreed, jury selection for the trial will go ahead on August 6. It was previously scheduled to begin this week.
Walker is the only suspect to still have his fate decided by the legal system.
A 15-year-old previously admitted to pulling the trigger and fatally shooting Pop Smoke during a home invasion in the Hollywood Hills in February 2020.
Tried in juvenile court because of his age, he also admitted to a home invasion robbery charge as well as personally and intentionally discharging a firearm during the crime. He is expected to be held in a state juvenile facility until the age of 25.

L.A. County Superior Court Judge J. Christopher Smith told the defendant, along with his 19-year-old co-defendant, that Pop Smoke “lost his life over no good reason.”
“You have no right to take somebody’s life. You have no right to take somebody’s property,” said Smith.
