Peter Rosenberg has denied responsibility for Sheff G and Sleepy Hallow‘s absence at this year’s Hot 97 Summer Jam.

The Hot 97 DJ had called for the Bronx rappers to be removed from the one-day festival, which took place on Sunday (June 2) at New York’s UBS Arena, after endorsing Donald Trump.

When Sleepy, who was booked to perform alongside the likes of Doja Cat, French Montana and Sexyy Red, failed to show, some naturally assumed that Rosenberg was involved.

But in a video posted to X on Monday (June 3), the radio personality denied playing any part in Sleepy’s no-show.

“While I was annoyed about the Sheff G-Sleepy Hallow-Trump thing, I did not get them taken off of Summer Jam,” he clarified. “Number one, I don’t have the power to do that.

“Number two, even though it was annoying to me and I disagree, I would never try to take money out of people’s pockets. I have never done that in the history of my career.”

“I have only tried to put money in people’s pockets and supported more artists in this city than many people are aware. Many of those artists are watching this right now and they know,” he added.

Rosenberg then revealed that Sleepy Hallow “removed himself from Summer Jam” while “Sheff G was a whole different situation that I’ll let them explain — it’s not my business to explain.”

He also said he’s hoping to interview the two rappers.

“It is all love with me and those guys,” he concluded. “It was a moment where I disagreed and we make jokes on the radio, we talk every morning. Some people may know, politically, I disagree with it, but that’s okay.”

Rosenberg’s comments were corroborated by Hot 97 colleague Ebro Darden, who announced on social media just hours before Sleepy Hallow was due to hit the stage that the rapper was pulling out of Summer Jam.

Ebro shared an email from Sleepy’s team addressed to the station that read: “Regretfully, I am writing to inform you that, unfortunately, due to unforeseen health circumstances, our artist, Sleepy Hallow, will be unable to attend and perform on the Summer Jam show scheduled for tonight. He is currently dealing with a health issue and has been advised to rest.”

Peter Rosenberg called out Sleepy Hallow and Sheff G late last month after they appeared on stage at a Donald Trump rally in their native Bronx and publicly endorsed the controversial former president.

“I’m disgusted. Hit ’em both with the button as far as I’m concerned,” the DJ said. “I hit everybody at the station, ‘Let’s pull them off Summer Jam.’ I just want y’all to know, that is me, Karen Rosenberg, I don’t want ’em on Summer Jam.”

He added: “You can tell it’s a big joke to [Sleepy], which to me in some ways makes it worse. But that ‘make America great again,’ he can barely hold himself together from laughing. What kind of endorsement is that?”

The “Breaking Bad” collaborators subsequently hit back, with Sleepy writing on social media: “This old n-gga is d!ck eater [crying laughter emoji].”

Sheff issued a lengthier and more philosophical response, writing: “Damn.. thought we was free to vote for whoever we wanted… I never knew we had to have the same political opinion as @laurastylez @oldmanebro @rosenbergradio in order to gain success[.] imagine that…

“Crazy thing is .. throughout all my success I never seen either of y’all mention my name .. y’all sat silently and watched lol ( whisper) … but as soon as something that y’all consider negative comes up, y’all quick to (shout) lol.”

He concluded: “y’all the reason our generation is the way it is .. I’m not even gone say no disrespectful shit either [slight frown emoji] it’s all love [blue heart emoji] #everythinglit.”
