O.T. Genasis has weighed in on the conversation surrounding T-Pain‘s mammoth ‘Big Ass Chain’ pendant, which the hitmaker recently said was one of his biggest regrets.
The “Buy U A Drank” singer told Oliver Tree on a recent episode of his Nappy Boy Radio Podcast that it was fan that pushed him to cop the ridiculous $400,000 chain, but that he keeps it around to remind himself of never to make the same mistake again.

“Actually now [it’s worth] probably like $200,000 at the most,” he explained. “Price just went down — the price of gold and diamonds aren’t what they used to be.”
While T-Pain believes the chain to be one of his biggest financial failures, O.T. Genasis thinks there are way worst things to blow cash on as a celebrity, like “unnecessary dinners and bottles [of alcohol].”

Speaking to TMZ, the “CoCo” rapper said the disposable things you “never get to see” are the worst culprits as far as squandering money goes. “Then you look at it like, ‘Damn where all that money go? I coulda bought my chain,'” he said.
O.T. agreed that the ‘Big Ass Chain’ was “not a good investment” for T-Pain, but also believes it was a good decision for his career at the time due to artists needing props and flashy items to further their image in the public eye.
“Some things we just do for our image,” he explained. “We make dumber decisions than that.”
T-Pain made the egriogious purchase for the bedazzled chain from the famous Atlanta-based jeweler Icebox in 2009. According to Hatton-Jewellers, the hefty “Big Ass Chain” weighs over 10 pounds and is made from yellow and white gold while boasting a robust 197 carats of diamonds.
In his mainstream prime throughout the second half of the 2000s, T-Pain features were heavily in demand as artists wanted to sprinkle in his unique AutoTuned twang to add another element to their hits.
So it’s safe to assume the Florida-bred artist had more money pouring in than he could account for. In another podcast episode with Taylor Bennett last year, T-Pain revealed he had so much money at one point he started charging rare cars in exchange for guest verses and hooks.
“I started charging n-ggas cars for songs,” he said. “It came to a point where I had enough money and n-ggas was like, ‘We need a hook.’ Hey, look, it’s a ’72 Impala that I want. I don’t even want a new car, bro, go get me a old school and I’ll do this hook for you tonight.”

As for O.T. Genasis, the Long Beach rapper’s last full-length project was his 2016 mixtape Coke N Butter, which features the single “Push It” featuring Remy Ma and Quavo. His last commercial single was 2020’s “Back to You” featuring Chris Brown and Charlie Wilson.
He made his film acting debut in 2021 drug kingpin flick Dutch alongside a cast that includes Macy Gray, Tyrone Turner and “Prison Bae” Jeremy Meeks.
Directed by Preston A. Whitmore II, the tells the story of a drug kingpin (played by Lance Gross) who builds an East Coast empire after taking control of an African drug lord’s stolen heroin business. The movie is an adaptation of a book of the same name by New York Times bestselling author Teri Woods.
