Nicki Minaj brought out her infamous ‘Martha’ persona during a recent tour stop in the UK as she paid homage to the late Princess Diana.
Martha, the MC’s British alter ego, was introduced to her fans on her debut album Pink Friday in 2010. While performing in the city of Birmingham on Monday (May 26), the character made an appearance and held a moment of silence for her “dear friend.”

In 2023, Nicki Minaj collaborated with Ice Spice on a song named after the late Princess of Wales, which made history for both artists.
According to Billboard, less than two weeks after its release last April, “Princess Diana” was downloaded 77,000 times, which is the best sales week for any rap title since the New York spitter dropped “Super Freaky Girl” back in 2022. The single also allowed Ice to nab her first No. 1 Hot Rap Song after appearing on the charts four previous times.
Additionally, the blockbuster is only the eighth joint in chart history featuring at least two solo women — the list dates back to 1989 and includes:
- “It’s a Shame,” Monie Love featuring True Image, two weeks at No. 1, beginning April 13, 1991
- “4, 5, 6,” Sole featuring JT Money & Kandi, one, Nov. 20, 1999
- “Hot Boyz,” Missy Elliott featuring Nas, Eve & Q-Tip, 18, Nov. 27, 1999
- “Fancy,” Iggy Azalea featuring Charli xCX, 18, May 3, 2014
- “Black Widow,” Iggy Azalea featuring Rita Ora, five, Oct. 18, 2014
- “WAP,” Cardi B featuring Megan Thee Stallion, eight, Aug. 22, 2020
- “Rumors,” Lizzo featuring Cardi B, one, Aug. 28, 2021
- “Princess Diana,” Ice Spice & Nicki Minaj, one (to date), April 29, 2023

Chart Data subsequently reported that Minaj had become the rapper with the most No.1 hits on the Digital Song Sales chart. Overtaking Drake‘s 13 No.1s, Nicki earned her 14th thanks to “Princess Diana.” As a result, she extended her record as the female rapper with the most Top 10 hits on the Hot 100 chart.
The duo also released an EP of “Princess Diana” remixes, which includes four alternative versions of Ice Spice’s popular track, including one called “Extendo Clip.”
